Now I’ll preface this shoe-bashing by stating that I’m not necessarily someone who should be judging others based on fashion choices. I went through a sea turtle phase in elementary school and still own sea turtle t-shirts that I will occasionally wear - but only to bed. So perhaps my fashion-goggles are just not precisely calibrated.

But from where I’m sitting… those shoes are terrifyingly ugly. Emphasis on the ‘terrifying’. Or is the emphasis on the ‘ugly’? Shit, I don’t know, it’s a tie - those shoes are equal parts terrifying and ugly.

I still find that style of boot really unattractive. Even without all the metal stud-like things. They remind me very much of the shoes that used to come with a certain line of Polly Pockets that my little sister had a bunch of when she was younger. I was always the one who had to put the stupid little boots on those damn dolls, and the little boot-shoes weren’t even pretty!

Anyway, back to the twins at hand, I’m just not quite sure what kind of message they’re trying to send to us - ‘Don’t fuck with us, we showered yesterday and have really ugly shoes’?

At this point I think it’s safe to say that Mary-Kate Olsen really just doesn’t give a shit what you think about her fashion choices and doesn’t want to be normal. And you know what? I kind of love her for it. In fact, part of me thinks that both of these girls seem like people I would like to hang out with. Maybe it’s because lately it seems like she may have actually purchased a brush. Or maybe it’s because both of the twins have been smiling so much more. Either way, I won’t question how many scarves she has on or how many purses she is carrying or the fact that she is wearing, of all things, a top hat. Instead, I will focus on her pretty hair, pretty smile, and the cute outfit that’s hiding underneath all those scarves (though they look more like table runners to me).

I don’t know what I love more - the dreads, the dreamcatcher-ish feather, or the black bag/wig she’s carrying.

Oh, wait, did I say “love”? Oops! I always get my “love” and “hate” confused.

Actually I do love both of the Olsens, don’t get me wrong. Luckily MK is seen here in NYC on the set of her new film, “The Wackness”, so this is most likely a costume.. though it’s really not that far off from some of the crazy things those girls wear.

The good: her hair and makeup.
The bad: she’s wearing a t-shirt? at a red-carpet event?
The ugly: that necklace isn’t vampire chic, it’s just ugly.

I’m so glad she found (or met someone who owns) a hairbrush! Because her hair looks so pretty in these shots. But girl, you cant just wear a deep v-neck t-shirt at a premiere! That shit is not classy. And the necklace? I’m not even going to go there. But still, this is a step in the right direction - it’s nice to see her smiling, and the fact that this is a Weeds event makes everything okay.
