Scandelirious presents: PROJECT RUNWAY COUNTDOWN

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday! I’ll admit things weren’t too wonderful on my end of things, but then I got sloshed on my lunch break, watched The Office while in my office, and just recently stumbled across the new preview page for season 4 of Project Runway. The site lists all of the PR contestants and tells a little about each one along with tasty little teaser videos about each person.

Since you are all very busy people (and I am currently a very bored person), I thought I’d help you out by summarizing both the bio pages and videos for you.

Let’s get started!

Carmen

pr-carmen.jpg

Carmen does this thing when she talks where she closes her eyes for longer-than-appropriate amounts of time. Generally, this makes one look a little pompous. But seeing as though this show is a contest for fashion designers, it’s just par for the course. Perhaps the hair-tumor atop her head is giving her delusions of grandeur, since she believes her road to being an “established designer” happened at the age of 13 when she made t-shirts with monkeys on them. Monkeys that said things in french.

Chris

pr-chris.jpg

While he may look a lot like Jay from season 1, do not be fooled. His hair is darker. Step off. Unlike Carmen, Chris hardly seems to open his eyes at all, but it’s hard to say because he NEVER LOOKS AT THE CAMERA. He’s “definitely into classic construction methods” but “updated”. So original.

Christian

O.M.G. I wish I could slow down his video to understand what he’s even saying. He uses the word “like” more than any person I’ve ever heard. He’s obviously, like, so very excited about, like, this chance. Also he’s the youngest contestant at 21.
Elisa

pr-elisa.jpg

She begins her interview talking about how she attended a party wearing a dress she created for a character. Would you like to know what the dress was like?

“She had a golden spool thread that hooked onto her heart, wrapped around it sewn and embroidered was eucalyptus leaves, encrusted with ginger - powdered ginger - soaked with oils, a simple rote cotton dress in blue, ripped and torn and sewn with small thread.”

Uhhhh… WOW. Are you sure you made a dress or a main entree? Also, she really says things like, “I…. am leaving so much on a different path, moving only in spirit, and not in flesh, in order to do the show.” What does that even mean?? This Elisa person is going to be extremely interesting. I suspect she will last at least a couple episodes.

Jack

pr-jack.jpg

Jack is kind of cute. But he was rejected from season 3 because Tim Gunn said he didn’t have enough of a “point of view” and Jack was hoping to be all “look how cute I am!” (yes he really said that) to win people over. He lists his biggest influence on his design as…. the public… because he has to cater to him. I doubt he’ll be around for very long. And I’m not sure if anyone’s told him, but “whatevs” is so last year.

Jillian

pr-jillian.jpg

Straight off the bat, Jillian makes sure we all know that she is an Aries, so “she’s a natural born leader”. Jillian had to “resign from her job” to do the show, which basically means her boss laughed in her face when she asked if she could take “How many months??” off to go be on a reality tv show. I actually really like Jillian from her short little interview, though she does almost sound like she is on just a weeeee bit of ecstacy. Maybe she’s just a gifted emoter.

Kit

pr-kit.jpg

I like Kit. She talks about wanting to be positive and how her first project in fashion design school was swimwear, and she chose the Golden Girls as the theme. I can work with that.

Kevin

pr-kevin.jpg

Kevin looks like a cross between Santino and Joey Fatone.  He spews the same old “I like to stay true to myself” crap that everyone seems to talk about. Blah blah blah. Interesting fact: it was his girlfriend who pushed him to do the show. Overall though, he doesn’t seem too obnoxious or annoying, he actually seems kind of down to earth.

Marion

pr-marion.jpg

Marion seems very mild-mannered and simplistic. When asked who’s career he’d most like to emulate, he says Marc Jacobs… and then goes on and on like a good little fan boy.

Rami

pr-rami.jpg

Rami seems very well spoken and grounded. I like him even though he name drops a little by saying that Tim Gunn actually called him up to suggest he try out for the show. Handpicked much?

Ricky

pr-ricky.jpg

God, why do all these people seem so nice?? The claws better come out!

Simone

pr-simone.jpg

Honestly, I found it difficult to concentrate on her interview because she was wearing these strange glove things. I kept thinking, “Are her hands getting sweaty?” and “Is she waving them about so much to cool them down?”

Steven

pr-steven.jpg

For the love of god. I was hoping there would be more cattiness in these interviews. Steven is a doll.. but I’m hoping that everyone was trying to come off as nice and sweet in these interviews and that once the competition starts there will be lots of drama and lots of pretty clothes.

Sweet P

pr-sweetp.jpg

Name dropping alert! Sweet P was encouraged by previous winner Jeffrey Sebelia to join PR. I like her because she loves Jeffrey and Santino and there is no doubt she’s going to totally bring out the bitch. Her name is SWEET P - of course she’s going to be bringing the drams.

Victorya

I like this girl. She talks about how important wearability is in fashion. I’m sensing a little Laura Bennett in her.

Copied & pasted from a wall posting on my friend’s Facebook (fromme).

A) Why are all the new PR designers so effing old?
B) Kit looks like a “Blossom” reject. Hellooooo, early ’90s!
C) Whatchu know ’bout Simone looking like a frigid biatch? “Fashion must: organic wool & cashmere.” WTF? Stab me in the face.
D) First Mister Boogie, now Sweet P. Why is Bravo perpetrating such heinous nickname usage?
E) Nina Garcia book deal = about as exciting as Tim Gunn’s new TV show, which is to say, sadly, not at all.

I really loved Sweet P’s work. I had no idea that Jeffry suggested her to go on the show.
