Emmys arrivals: The good, the bad, and the holy shit what is on Ellen Pompeo’s head

Before you ask - no, I did not watch the Emmy’s. I am a firm believer in the internet. Anything I could possibly want to see that is on tv, I can see on the computer. Plus, even if I did have tv, I would have spent that time watching Animal Planet instead, because the Emmy’s are boring.

But that’s why I have WireImage. I just perused over 1800 photos just for you, dear readers, so I could bring to you the very best (and the very worst) of the red carpet.

Here we have Hayden Panettiere. I love the color and everything from the waist up. But when you see the full thing….

… it’s awful. It makes her look like she’s trying to hide a baby bump (is she trying to hide a baby bump? Hmm), and I hate hate hate how she always wears her hair up. You’ve got beautiful hair - wear it down!

 

 

Moving along to another Heroes hottie, here we have Milo… and I can assure you, this is the closest he came to smiling all evening. Why so dour, Milo?

 

 

Oh hi Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick. How’s it going?

 

 

Some people have put America Ferrera on the worst dressed list but I’d have to disagree. I love this color on her, and I don’t really have a problem with the dress. But America can do no wrong in my book, so perhaps I am biased.

 

 

Call me crazy but I really think Sally Fields was one of the best dressed people last night. I really love her dress.

 

 

Holy shit. I don’t even know where to start with Ellen Pompeo. I wanted to say something about her strange tassel necklace thing but I just can’t get past the hair. Who would DO this to themselves? Who? This is mind-bogglingly horrific.

 

 

I love Hugh Laurie. So, so much.

 

Okay. So. I’m pretty sure I hate Jennifer Morrison’s dress. It’s just.. weird. Mostly in the chest. From the waist down it’s alright. I like her hair. Aside from the questionable fashion choice, she seems to be taking the breakup with Jesse quite well.

 

Speaking of Jesse…. He’s looking a little rough here. I couldn’t really find any pictures of him smiling. His suit is hot though.

 

Here’s newly-single Jennifer Fischer from The Office. I think I might like her dress a little more if that awful bow weren’t there. But it might be beyond saving. Wonder who she’s waving at? Maybe she’s waving at Jesse!

Katherine Heigl looks amazing. You can tell she’s really comfortable in her gown.

Sandra Oh was definitely one of the best dressed of the night. Very simple but flattering.

 

 

Is Reading Rainbow even still on the air? Levar Burton is looking fierce here either way. It’s still strange to see him without his eye-headband-thing from Star Trek though.

 

 

I was thinking that maybe a picture featuring more of a downward angle might make her hair look less insane, but nope. Still crazy.

 

 

Felicity Huffman looks great! Love her!

 

 

Not a flattering dress, Jaime Pressly. But congrats on the Emmy!

 

 

Heidi Klum is so great. I love her dress.

Love you, kinda love your dress. Something about the bottom perturbs me, but the rest is lovely.

 

At first I thought Michelle Pfeiffer’s eyes were all squinty because they were out in the sun and lots of people looked squinty for that reason. But upon closer examination, it appears I was wrong - homegirl’s stoned out of her gourd!

 

That’s enough, Laura Bennett. Step away from Tim Gunn. You of all people should know that what you’re wearing isn’t appropriate for an event like this, I don’t care if you’re an artist of the cloth.

 

This is kind of painful to look at. Rebecca Romijn’s make up is strange, her dress is completely unflattering, and Jerry O’Connell’s shoes almost look like the Doc Martens my crush in junior high used to wear.

I love you, Tina Fey, but I don’t love your dress.

The obligatory, “OMG Christina Aguilera is pregnant!” photo. She wore three dresses last night and I loved all of them. Because she’s awesome.

Zoomed out? Still crazy.

And lastly, Ali Larter. Because she’s gorgeous and I think I love her dress. It’s not perfect, but definitely one of the best.
